Miguel Sánchez-Romero is a research scientist at the Wittgenstein Centre (IIASA, VID/ÖAW and Univ. Vienna), Vienna Institute of Demography, the Technical University of Vienna (TU Wien), and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Austria. He was a Fulbright postdoctoral researcher at the Center on Economics and Demography of Ageing (CEDA) at University of California, Berkeley (2008-2010). He has worked as research scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in Rostock, Germany (2010-2014). He has published in top peer-reviewed journals in the field of economists, demography, and epidemiology, and is associate editor in the Journal of the Economics of Ageing (JEOA) since 2019 and the Vienna Yearbook of Population Research (VYPR) since 2021.

Miguel’s main research interest deals with the effect of the interaction between demographic changes and intergenerational transfers on economic growth. He develops theoretical models as well as computable general equilibrium models that incorporate realistic demography and public and private transfers based on National Transfer Accounts (NTA) data.
